Theological / Devotional

Observe thou. This is not a specific reference to the Ten Commandments, which were enjoined anew by being rewritten upon two new tables (v. 28). This “command” includes the injunctions listed in vs. 12-26. It is to be observed that the increased benefits of God are to be balanced by the people’s acceptance of greater obligation. Every victory over sin brings with it a clearer vision of God, greater opportunities, and increased responsibilities.
