Commentary on Ezekiel 1:16

Theological / Devotional

Colour of a beryl. Literally, “the eye of Tarshish.” Some form of precious stone is designated, but the identification is uncertain. Some commentators suggest the topaz. The name Tarshish probably indicates the source of the stone. On the location of Tarshish see on Gen. 10:4.

In the middle. The unique construction and arrangement of the wheels presented an apparently confused picture; nevertheless the movements were in perfect harmony.
