Theological / Devotional

As I saw good. There is nothing in the Hebrew text corresponding to the word “good.” The word should either be omitted or “it” be supplied. The clause would then be translated “according to what I saw,” or “according as I saw it.” God first makes an inspection (see Genesis 18:21) and then punishes according to works. This work is analogous to the final judgment, when a careful investigation will be made of the records of all men before the rewards and punishments are assigned (2 Corinthians 5:10).
