Theological / Devotional

Thou mayest remember. The pardon that God gives does not blot out the memory of the sinful past. The shame that accompanies such a memory is the necessary safeguard of the new experience. Such knowledge also constantly keeps in mind the magnitude of salvation. Compare PK 78.

When I am pacified. Hebrew bekapperi, “when I forgive,” from the root kaphar, used technically in the Old Testament for “atonement.”
