Theological / Devotional

Shall speak. The various nations are represented as lying together in she’ol, and in figure as carrying on a conversation. For another prophetic use of this graphic figure of speech see comments on “the king of Babylon,” in Isa. 14:4, 15-19.

Him. The masculine is used when the reference is to the king. The feminine pronoun designates the kingdom.

Hell. Heb. she’ol (see on ch. 31:15).
