Theological / Devotional

Priests in their divisions. The completion of the new Temple was naturally followed by an arrangement of the ministers of the Temple, corresponding to that originally made by David (see 1 Chron. 23:6-23; 24:1-9). The arrangement was based upon the ordinances of the law concerning the respective offices of the two orders — priests and Levites — as given in the book of Numbers (chs. 3:6-10; 8:6-26), but the “courses” themselves were not established till David’s time.
