Theological / DevotionalA dream. The dream was God’s usual mode of revealing Himself to the heathen, as He did to Pharaoh (ch. 41:1) and to Nebuchadnezzar (Dan. 4:5). To the patriarchs and prophets God gave visions, though He sometimes spoke to them in dreams also.
Thou art but a dead man. Literally, “you are about to die.” Abimelech contracted the malady that had fallen upon his house (see v. 17).
