Bowed down his head. The faithful servant of Abraham was one of those happy individuals who not only pray for help but also express gratitude upon receiving it. He gave God the glory for the success that had attended his mission. Eliezer is a noteworthy example of the value of family worship. Abraham had never considered his religion to be merely a personal possession, but had lived it, taught it (Genesis 18:19), and made his vast family participants in the requirements and privileges of the divine covenant (Genesis 17:23). They had come to believe in the true God and to imitate Abraham’s example of faithful devotion to Him. Eliezer’s two prayers at the well of Nahor’s city emphasize the value of missionary work in the home.
