He shall send his angel. This tender expression of confidence in divine guidance reveals Abraham’s abiding conviction that he and his affairs were under the direction and protection of God. The same assurance of divine leadership given to Eliezer was afterward promised the people of Israel (Exodus 23:20) and the Christian church (Hebrews 1:14).
