Theological / Devotional

These children. Laban tacitly acknowledged the truth of Jacob’s words and admitted that he had no just ground for complaint. He could do nothing but accept the existing situation and the inevitable separation it entailed. Nevertheless, his haughty spirit broke forth once more as he laid claim to all of Jacob’s possessions. Not one word of recognition or appreciation came from the lips of Laban for Jacob’s 20 years of diligent labor. Instead, he assumed the role of a greathearted and noble benefactor, who would never think of treating his own kin with less than magnanimity.
