Theological / Devotional

The tower of Edar. Continuing southward, Jacob halted just beyond Migdal Eder, meaning “tower of the flock.” Watchtowers were commonly erected for the convenience of shepherds in guarding their flocks and for protection against approaching enemies (2 Kings 18:8; 2 Chron. 26:10 ; 27:4). The site of this particular tower is uncertain.
