Theological / Devotional

Who are these? The failing sight of the patriarch (see v. 10) was probably the reason why Jacob did not recognize his grandchildren sooner. The fact that he was not at first aware of their presence shows that the act of adoption was prompted, not by beholding the youths, but by the inward promptings of the Spirit of God.
