Commentary on Genesis 49:26

Theological / Devotional

The blessings of thy father. The blessings that the patriarch implored for Joseph were to surpass the blessings that his parents had passed on to him. Joseph is referred to, literally, as “the separated one,” the nazir. Joseph is so designated, both here and in Deut. 33:16, on account of the preservation of his virtue and piety in heathen Egypt.
