Commentary on Hebrews 1:10

Theological / Devotional

Thou, Lord. Verses 10-12 are a citation from Ps. 102:25-27. Citation after citation from the LXX is marshaled to establish the deity of Christ beyond question. In v. 8 Christ is called God. Here He is named Lord. Jesus is both Lord and God (cf. on Acts 2:36).

The foundation of the earth. The fact that Christ was the active agent in creation has already been mentioned (see on v. 2). Here an OT quotation that the Jews viewed as referring to God is shown to have specific reference to Christ.
