Joseph. For the incident related see Genesis 50:24, 25; cf. Exodus 13:19. Joseph had no concrete evidence on which to base his expectation that the family would return to Canaan and occupy the land. His request for interment in the Promised Land, when the family should return to dwell there, was based on faith in God’s promises.
