Commentary on Hebrews 12:24

Theological / Devotional

Mediator. For comment on Christ as mediator of the new covenant see on chapters 8:6; 9:15.

New covenant. See on chapter 8:8-10.

Blood of sprinkling. See on Exodus 24:6, 8; Hebrews 9:19, 21 ; 10:22. Here reference is to the atoning blood of Christ, by which the new covenant was ratified and by means of which sin is pardoned.

Speaketh. See on Genesis 4:10; cf. on Hebrews 11:4.

Better things. The blood of Abel cried forth for vengeance. The blood of Christ speaks eloquently of divine mercy and forgiveness.
