Commentary on Hebrews 12:8

Theological / Devotional

Without chastisement. Children who do not receive discipline are being cheated of the very preparation they need for the duties and responsibilities of life. Parents who withhold needed discipline will one day have a fearful account to render to God. It would not be either fair or just for our heavenly Father to fail to discipline us, or to protect us from circumstances and situations that have disciplinary value.

Bastards. Or, “illegitimate children.”
