Theological / Devotional

I will be merciful. When Jeremiah spoke these words on the eve of the Captivity, they were a promise of what God was willing to do for His wayward people if they would return to Him. For the Christian they are a promise of forgiveness full and free through the blood of Jesus, without the shedding of the blood of animals as under the Levitical system.

Remember no more. That is, God will no longer hold these sins against the transgressor (cf. on Isa. 65:17). God will cast all our sins behind His back (Isa. 38:17). He will cast them into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19).
