Theological / Devotional

Sprinkled with blood. This item is not mentioned in the OT account, which refers only to an anointing with oil (Exodus 40:9-11). Josephus, describing the consecration of the tabernacle, speaks of blood being sprinkled on both the tabernacle and the vessels belonging to it (Antiquities iii. 8. 6 [206]). This tradition the writer of Hebrews confirms.
