Theological / Devotional

Therefore. The sufferings listed (vs. 3-5) are stated to be a result of the sins of Israel, particularly of those mentioned in v. 12.

Shall the land mourn. Compare Isa. 33:9.

Beasts. On account of his sin man has brought suffering upon the animal world. Compare Rom. 8:19-23.
