Sorrow a little. If “a little” is a time expression for “in a little while,” the meaning would be that before long Israel would feel the painful effects of her resorting to Assyria. Some believe that “little” is here used in an ironic sense: thus heavy as was the tribute imposed upon Israel and grievous to be borne, it would be light in comparison with the sorrow they would have to endure when the whole nation was carried into captivity.
