Theological / Devotional

Ephraim is smitten. Though Israel was set as a pleasant plant in the garden of God’s love, the disease of apostasy has smitten its root, and it has withered. When the root is dried up there can be no hope of fruit. Ephraim’s free, therefore, that unless they first forsake Him for ways of God, will produce nothing but leaves, and so merit the divine judgment (see Matt. 21:18, 19).
