Theological / Devotional

Thy silver. By two apt figures Isaiah contrasts the present with the past. The character of the people had degenerated from precious silver to worthless dross. The pure wine of righteousness and holiness had become diluted. Jesus employed a similar figure when He spoke of the salt that had lost its savor (Matt. 5:13).
