The stars. A supernatural darkness in which the luminaries of heaven withhold their light is often mentioned as one of the phenomena accompanying the great and terrible “day of the Lord” (Joel 2:10, 11; 13:15, 16; Amos 8:9; see also Matt. 24:29; Mark 13:24, 25; Luke 21:25; Rev. 6:12, 13; GC 636, 637).
