Theological / Devotional

Prepare slaughter. That is, for the “children” of the “king of Babylon” (see on v. 4). Compare Joel 3:9-17. Death and destruction are, similarly, to be the final fate of all the “children” of iniquity. Eventually Satan himself and all his evil host will be devoured by flames and reduced to ashes (see Eze. 28:16-18; Mal. 4:1, 3; Rev. 20:9, 10).
