Theological / Devotional

Smite and heal. Isaiah’s message to Egypt opened with a prophecy of judgment and doom (vs. 1-17). But the Lord is a God of mercy. He smites in order that He may heal. God’s object in sending judgments is not destruction, but restoration, for Egypt as well as for Judah.
