Commentary on Isaiah 28:4

Theological / Devotional

Hasty fruit. Literally, “early figs” (see on Mark 11:13). The regular crop ripened in the month of August. The earliest figs, which ripened in June, were considered a special delicacy (see Hosea 9:10; Micah 7:1). These would be eagerly seized and quickly devoured. Thus it was to be with Samaria.
