Theological / Devotional

Upon horses. Assyria had introduced cavalry, and the Jews were relying on a supply of these animals, which they felt were necessary in order to resist Assyria. Isaiah declares that the horses will prove useful only to facilitate retreat. In ancient times the horse was used almost exclusively in fighting.
