Theological / Devotional

Caused thee to serve. Or, “burdened you” (RSV). Compare Isa. 1:11, 12; Mal. 2:13. God’s requirements had not been burdensome. What the Lord asked His people to do was for their benefit, not His. He had not ordained the ritual law for His good, but for theirs, in order that they might understand the way of salvation more perfectly.
