Commentary on Isaiah 47:14

Theological / Devotional

The fire shall burn them. Not literal fire, since the Persians did not then destroy Babylon (for its gradual min, see on ch. 13:19, 20). These counselors would be useless to those who depended on them for security — as useless against the flames of war as stubble consumed by the fire.
