What could have been done? A question is often the most effective means of bringing home a truth. Isaiah makes it clear by this searching question that the Lord did everything that could possibly have been done for Israel. He provided them with every facility for the development of a character that would resemble His own, and they had only themselves to blame for their failure (see pp. 30-33).
