Theological / Devotional

Hope of Israel. Heb. miqweh Yisra’el, an expression occurring only here and in Jer. 17:13. The prophet emphasizes the fact that there is no “hope” for Israel except in the Lord.

As a wayfaring man. The prophet’s graphic way of expressing God’s seeming indifference to Judah in their “time of trouble.”
