A noble vine. Heb. soreq. A choice kind of Oriental vine, producing grapes of a dark-red color (see Deut. 32:32; Ps. 80:8, 9; Isa. 5:1-7; Hosea 10:1).

How then? The perverseness and degeneracy of Israel were not the result of any neglect on God’s part but of their own perversity.
