Theological / Devotional

Folly. Heb. tiphlah, “unseemliness,” or “unsavoriness.” Jeremiah refers here to the evil of the false prophets of the northern kingdom of Israel to emphasize the greater condemnation resting upon those of the southern kingdom of Judah for their apostate condition (see ch. 3:6-10).

Prophesied in Baal. That is, they gave religious instruction in the name of Baal (1 Kings 18:19; 1 Kings 22:6, 7).
