Theological / Devotional

Sent men into Egypt. Ancient treaties contained a clause in which both parties promised to return political prisoners to their country of origin.

Elnathan. Probably the king’s father-in-law (see 2 Kings 24:8). Elnathan was one of the princes favorable to Jeremiah (Jer. 36:12).
