Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal [them], and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.

South. The geographical features here noted describe the well-known area of the land of Judah (see Joshua 15). This particular reference seems to make no mention of the land that formerly belonged to the northern kingdom of Israel.
Their captivity. Lest anyone miss the point of the acted parable the Lord proclaims the certainty of return from captivity. The very fact that the Lord had foretold the Captivity, which had now come to pass, confirmed the promise of return.
