Theological / Devotional

Shall return. Zedekiah’s appeal for Egyptian help broke his “covenant” with the Chaldeans (Eze. 17:17, 18). The Egyptians’ approach, like Tirhakah’s during the Assyrian invasion (2 Kings 19:9; Isa. 37:9), resulted in nothing more than a temporary suspension of hostilities around Jerusalem.
