Theological / Devotional

Ben-hadad. Compare Amos 1:4. Ben-hadad is literally, “son of Hadad.” Hadad was an Aramaean god. Benhadad was a characteristic name of the kings of Damascus (see 1 Kings 15:18; 20:1; 2 Kings 13:3; see on 1 Kings 15:18). Here it seems to be used as a general reference to the Syrian kings.
