Watchmen. Compare Isa. 56:10; Eze. 3:17 ; 33:7.

Sound of the trumpet. The trumpet blast was the signal of alarm used by the sentinels on the walls of a city (see ch. 4:5).

We will not hearken. Compare “we will not walk,” in v. 16.
