The Chaldeans. Heb. Kasdim. The LXX reads “the horsemen,” but this is probably interpretative to indicate that the translators thought the roving bands of Kasdim used cavalry.

Fell upon. Or, “made a raid upon.” Such raids have always been common in Arabia and other parts of the Near East.
