Hidest thou thy face? There may have been a dramatic pause following v. 23, while Job awaited God’s answer regarding his sins. When God failed to answer, Job exclaimed, “Wherefore hidest thou thy face?” On the other hand Job may have merely complained that God did not accede to his requests of v. 21. Holdest me. That is, reckonest me.
