Lead in the rock. Job wishes his record to be cut deep into the rock with an iron chisel, and the chiseled-out groove to be filled with lead. This very practice is now known to have been followed in ancient times, as, for instance, with the Behistun inscription (see illustration facing p. 81; see also Vol. I, pp. 98, 110).
