Theological / DevotionalKnew him not. Job was so marred by his affliction that he was not recognizable. His friends could not control their emotions when they saw his condition. They not only wept, which is the natural reaction to sorrow; they also observed expressions of grief customary in the East — tearing their robes and sprinkling dust or ashes on their heads (see Joshua 7:6; 1 Sam. 4:12).
