He divideth. Heb. raga‘, “to disturb,” also “to be at rest.” Raga‘ illustrates how certain words may express opposite ideas. When such words are used, the context must determine the choice of meaning. In the case under consideration either meaning makes good sense. With either definition the text reveals God’s mastery over the sea.
