The flood breaketh out. The meaning of this verse is not clear. Job still seems to be referring to mining operations. The obscurity may arise from an allusion to practices then understood but now unknown. The description may be of the process of sinking a shaft into a mine. The word rendered “flood” is also used to refer to a stream, brook, or wadi.
