Bones. Often represented in the Scriptures as the seat of acute pain (see Ps. 6:2 ; 22:14; 31:10; 38:3; 42:10; 14:30).

Sinews. Literally, “gnawers” (see on v. 3). Day and night Job suffered the ravages of unremitting pain.
