What portion? The meaning seems to be, If I were to indulge impure thoughts, what portion or inheritance could I expect from God? Job considered it presumptuous for a man to maintain an impure mind and expect the approbation and favor of God. He possessed an ethical consciousness far in advance of that of the majority of his contemporaries or indeed of men in every age of human history.
