Theological / Devotional

Rejoiced. The sentiment expressed by Job anticipates the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount. Many in ancient times, even as today, felt justified in rejoicing over the downfall of an enemy. Job possessed a deeper spiritual insight, and caught a glimpse of the idea of loving one’s enemies (see on Matt. 5:44).
