Theological / Devotional

In his affliction. Or, “by his affliction.” The thought seems to be that God uses affliction as a means of deliverance for the righteous (see Ps. 119:67, 71).

Openeth their ears. Ears that were deaf to the sound of God’s voice become sensitive as a result of adversity.
