Rush. Heb. gome’, generally taken to refer to the papyrus, a tall reed that grew to twice the height of a man and had a large tuft of leaves and flowers at the top. It was abundant in ancient Egypt, and was also found in the Jordan valley. Flag. Heb. ’achu, “reeds,” “rushes.” These plants consume large quantities of water.
